Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Counsel with more than eight years of experience to join our litigation practice. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, operates independently, and brings the skill and confidence to own matters and lead client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead case strategy from inception through resolution, including directing factual investigation, assessing claims, and providing sophisticated analysis of risk and exposure to clients and senior attorneys.

  • Own and produce all written work product—pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs—across state and federal courts, mediation and arbitration – with minimal partner supervision.

  • Independently take and defend depositions, argue dispositive and discovery motions, and represent clients in hearings, mediations, and arbitration proceedings.

  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously, supervise and mentor junior associates, and exercise independent judgment in advancing cases.

  • Serve as a primary client contact on assigned matters, delivering proactive counsel on litigation risk, compliance, and strategic business decisions with confidence and clarity.

  • Drive firm development through client relationship building, business development initiatives, thought leadership, and active mentorship of junior attorneys consistent with Grove’s values.

Qualifications

Required:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the California Bar in good standing.

  • More than eight years of litigation experience at a national or top-tier

    boutique law firm.

  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently in a remote environment.

Preferred:

  • Admission to the New York Bar.

  • Judicial clerkship experience.

  • Experience with arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution.

Salary Range

$300,000 – $350,000 base salary, plus discretionary bonus, depending on experience and qualifications.
